Personal Description: I am an outgoing, extrovert, communicative person, mother of two primary school children. I love reading, cinema, vegetable gardening and cooking. I follow a humanistic philosophy when it comes to teaching: encouraging students to have the confidence to pursue lifelong learning. I, myself, am a lifelong learner, having completed a law degree by correspondence after my initial degrees. I am currently enrolled at Massey University to study a diploma in Dispute Resolution on an extramural basis. I believe that learning should be a fulfilling and essentially enjoyable process.

Tutoring Experience: Fourteen years of high school teaching, focussing on IGCSE and A level curricula. I have also taught English as a Foreign Language, and am enrolled for an ESOL Home Tutoring course in Palmerston North in early March. I also have several years expereicne as a one-on-one tutor.

Tutoring Approach: I try to balance real-life communicative situations with grammatical explanations when tutoring. I believe that the ability to communicate in the target language is of paramount importance, but that this must be underpinned by an understanding of the main grammatical points. I focus on the four skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening, and try to cover all of these skills in each session.
