How Does First Tutors: NZ Work?

Step 1: Register for free to start advertising your tutoring services in your local area. This allows you to showcase your experience and qualifications and to indicate your days and hours of availability.

Step 2: You can start receiving enquiries today from prospective students through using our service. You can decide whether you want to accept or decline their request, or you may want to discuss their needs further through your personal member's panel. By accepting a student request, you automatically agree that if the student also confirm that they want to work with you, you are happy to pay the introduction fee to First Tutors: NZ. Requests for tutors come through all year round. We ask tutors to reply to any requests they receive as soon as they possibly can.

Step 3: Exchange contact details with your student and start teaching. If your prospective student (and/or their parents) is happy with your offer and accepts the agreement, we arrange for an exchange of contact details. You will receive an e-mail giving you your new students' contact details and invoicing our introductory fee. We also charge the students or their parents 14.99 for their introduction to you to ensure that they are a genuine enquiry.

Fees

We have designed First Tutors: NZ fees to provide a competitive alternative to agencies as a source for self-employed tutors to find students. We ask for a one time fee per student, only when both parties confirm that they have a tuition agreement. This is in essence like paying for "pay-per-click" or "cost-per-lead" advertising. Rather than letting you pay to join to a directory without knowing its effectiveness in generating enquiries for you, we say pay when it works.

First Tutors: NZ charges $6.50 plus 3.50% of your hourly rate for the first five hours of the requested tuition if the tuition arrangement is confirmed by both tutor and student. The idea behind this is that your advertising cost can easily be covered by your first lesson's fees and relates to the quality of the lead. In addition, if a parent or student requests more than five hours of tutoring, we charge 2.00% of your hourly rate for hours five to ten. You only pay this fee once per contract, not per lesson.
