Company Background

In 2005, Anita Moss and Paul Norman conceptualised and built First Tutors: NZ UK (www.firsttutors.co.uk) as a web-based find-your-own tutor service that works in partnership with Bright Tutors. They developed the business by investigating what tutors and students wanted and how they could make the private tuition sector more efficient for all concerned and together planned a completely web-based tutor matching service.

When Anita was an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge she observed the opportunity for mutually beneficial tutoring arrangements between talented postgraduates looking to earn whilst they learn and local parents in need of extra private tuition for their children to help them through exams. Anita's entry into the private tuition market therefore began with Bright Tutors (www.brighttutors.co.uk), first formed in 2004 as a local private tuition firm, placing tutors as educational providers with individuals or families across Cambridgeshire.

Directors

Anita Moss, 27, has a BA (Hons) in History and Social Anthropology from St. John's College, Cambridge University. Prior to co-founding First Tutors: NZ she founded Bright Tutors, worked in product management and marketing for Doug Richard's (BBC Dragons' Den) businesses Trutap and Library House and also on Whitehall as a Senior Policy Manager. Anita has tutored History and English to examination candidates herself and received professional tuition in French after graduating. Anita's hobbies include writing and hiking.

Paul Norman, 27, has an MSc (Distinction) in Information Systems from The University of Leeds and a first class BSc (Hons) in Physics from The University of Nottingham. Prior to co-founding First Tutors: NZ, Paul was a software developer for new media business start up, UK Music Jobs, a software consultant at Leeds Business School and a freelance web developer. Having built the Bright Tutors website, Paul became and Anita joined forces to become business partners, and conceptualised and built First Tutors: NZ. Paul has tutored GCSE and A Level candidates for Science exams and has received tuition in electric guitar. Paul's hobbies include technology, design and playing guitar.
